Musical opportunities at WSC!
By Todd Svanoe
Have you thought about singing or dusting off that trumpet, violin or tuba you haven’t touched since high school? Opportunities abound for community members of all ages to join several new groups at Williston State — or to receive voice or instrumental lessons!
“We’re a community college,” said Director of Music Herb Parker. “That means the college is here to build the community and vice versa. It’s a fun place to use your talent and get involved.”
“The City Band is joining the WSC Concert Band for rehearsals on Thursday nights this semester,” said Parker, “and the Williston Concert Chorale has merged with and become the WSC Community Chorale. We’re looking for new members in all groups.”
The WSC Pep Band adds a boost at college basketball games, and if that isn’t enough, there’s the WSC Select Singers.
“With the help of percussion teacher Chad Askim, we’ll even be starting a guitar class,” said an enthusiastic Parker. “President Nadolny is very supportive of the arts and we’re expecting real growth this year.”
